Universitas Negeri Jakarta has a policy that the progress of science, technology, and art that it develops will be utilized as much as possible to improve the quality of education in particular and science and technology in general. Furthermore, the expansion of this mandate impacts various aspects of the management of the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, including efforts to achieve the vision. The vision of Universitas Negeri Jakarta was initially a university with a competitive advantage in building an advanced, democratic and prosperous Indonesian society based on Pancasila. In this era of globalization, the vision of Universitas Negeri Jakarta is to become a reputable university in the Asian region. The mission of Universitas Negeri Jakarta is to organize the Tridharma of Higher Education that is superior and useful for the benefit of humanity.

The Faculty of Engineering, as one of the faculties within the Universitas Negeri Jakarta, constantly strives to realize the vision and mission of the Jakarta State University. By the vision and mission of UNJ, the Faculty of Engineering prepares personnel to work in the field of engineering covering the areas or functions of (1) Research; (2) Development (development); (3) Design (design); (4) Production and construction; (5) Operations and maintenance (operations and maintenance); (6) Sales (sales); (7) Management; (8) Material testing; (9) Consultant; and (10) Teachers/educators. Furthermore, in realizing the vision, mission, and goals, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, constantly strives to carry out institutional development through good cooperation with government/private or national and international agencies.

The implementation of cooperation within the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta aims to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, creativity, innovation, quality, and relevance of implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education to improve the nation’s competitiveness as the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 14 of 2014 Article 2. The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, has cooperation in both academic and non-academic fields. In the academic and non-academic areas, the Faculty of Engineering, State University of Jakarta cooperates with government/private institutions or national and international in various forms, including:

1. Implementation of education, research, and community service,
2. Assignment of senior lecturers as supervisors at universities that require coaching (detasering program),
3. Lecturer or student exchange (staff and student exchange),
4. Shared use of various resources (resource sharing),
5. Scientific periodicals (joint publications),
6. Apprenticeship (internship),
7. Organizing joint seminars
8. Human Resource Development,
9. Practical expertise services by guest lecturers who come from the business world,
10. Providing scholarships or tuition assistance
11. Other forms were deemed necessary.
