HISTORY
Since August 4, 1999 IKIP Jakarta has changed to State University of Jakarta with Presidential Decree 093/1999 dated August 4, 1999. Along with the change of IKIP Jakarta to become a university, the name of the faculty, the Department and study program changed. Technology and Vocational Schools in addition to the fact that the Faculty of Technology also organizes professional D3 programs in addition to that within this faculty there is a Department of Family Welfare Education.
Considering future development, the name of the faculty changed to Faculty of Engineering (FT) under the FT there are four departments namely (1) Department of Electrical Engineering (2) Department of Civil Engineering (3) Department of Mechanical Engineering and (4) Department of Family Welfare.
The Faculty of Engineering prepares personnel to work in the field of engineering which includes the fields or functions of (1) research (research); (2) Development (3) design (4) Production and construction (5) operations and maintenance; (6) Sales (sales); (7) management, (8) testing materials, (9) Consultants and (10) teachers/educators (Ed. 1981).
Qualifications for researchers and developers are mostly doctoral or master’s degrees. While the qualifications for designers are masters or bachelors. Qualifications for production and construction are mostly carried out by undergraduates and D3 graduates. While operations and maintenance are mostly carried out by graduates of D3 or vocational high school. As for other functions/fields, it can be carried out by undergraduate graduates with special specializations. As an educator, educational qualifications depend on the tasks to be carried out.
As a lecturer, FT graduates will teach in vocational high schools (SMK), as instructors in Job Training, instructors in industrial training centers or lecturers in faculties. All related to industry.
